 Welcome to Renovation Advice Your free source for information, tips and ideas about remodling, renovating and general home improvment. Renovating an old house can be very fun and rewarding. It can also be very expensive and time consuming. Fortunately a lot of the headaches can be avoided if you take the time to learn what you are getting in to. This site is designed to give you some helpful information, ideas and advice to assist you in your renovation. The renovation advice on this site can be applied for general remodeling, building from scratch or even those looking to flip a house. Of course budgets and timelines will have to be modified to accommodate your particular situation. You don’t have to be a professional designer, carpenter, electrician or plumber in order to renovate a house. However, it’s likely that you will have to learn a bit about all of these if you take on an extensive renovation. Knowing a bit about all of these things will save you time and money when and if you choose to hire out portions of your renovation. Keep in mind that the tips, methods and costs described on this site are simply from my personal experience. Please consult a professional before embarking on any of the tasks outlined to ensure you adhere to all local and national building codes. There are also a number of books out there that provide building techniques and codes for the do–it-yourselfer. Please feel free to send emails and pictures of your personal projects.
